Big family cars, same failing cluster family
Galaxy (2006–2015) and S-Max (2006–2014) sit on the same electronic platform as the Mondeo Mk4, sharing its Visteon cluster generation (6M2T/8M2T/AM2T-10849 part families) — including the high-spec Convers+ unit with the colour centre display. Two faults dominate: the Convers+ display corrupting, halving or blanking entirely, and the wider board fault that drops the whole cluster — gauges dead, " "warning lights everywhere, sometimes a car that won't start.
Galaxy / S-Max symptoms
- Convers+ display corrupted, missing half the screen, or blank
- Intermittent loss of all instruments on the move
- Dashboard stops working; all four dials dead
- No backlights; cluster unreadable at night
- No-start with immobiliser light; U1900/U0155/P1260 stored
Repaired at home — the seven-seater never leaves
- Call or message with your postcode and symptoms. Dead dash, flashing immobiliser light, gauges at zero, dashes for mileage — tell us what the car is doing and what it is (Focus, C-Max, Kuga, Transit, Galaxy, S-Max, Mondeo).
- We come to the car. Home, work or wherever it refused to start. The van carries the test gear, components and tools for these Visteon clusters.
- Diagnose first, at the car. We confirm the cluster is actually the fault before any repair — if it's the battery, wiring or another module, you get told straight.
- Board-level repair on site. The cluster comes out, the failed stage is rebuilt on the bench in the van, and it goes straight back into your car.
- Started, tested, driven. Gauges, mileage, warning lights and immobiliser all proven working before we leave — same day.
Galaxy in Richmond — Convers+ screen went black on holiday morning
Fully loaded for France, display dead, mileage and messages invisible. We reached the house within the day, repaired the display stage on the drive, and the ferry was made with a working dash.
