Two Fiestas, two known faults
The Fiesta Mk6 (2002–2008) — and the Fusion built alongside it — keeps its immobiliser inside the instrument cluster, so when the board fails the car doesn't just lose its dials: it refuses to start, with the immobiliser light flashing. The usual path is flicker and short blackouts, then gauges dropping to zero, then a dead dash. The Fiesta Mk7 and Mk7.5 (2008–2017), and the B-Max and EcoSport built on the same platform, are known for the centre display fading, losing segments or going blank, for backlights failing, and for the same immobiliser no-start when the cluster drops off the network — very often the morning after a flat battery or a jump start.
The Ka Mk2 (2008–2016) is a different animal: it was built with the Fiat 500 and uses the Fiat-type cluster whose screen fades to nothing. We fit a new screen inside the original cluster, mileage kept, exactly as we do on the Fiat 500. Ka Mk1 (1996–2008) and Ranger clusters — dead gauges, odometer displays, warning-light sweeps — are repaired the same way, at the vehicle.
Fiesta, Ka & B-Max symptoms
- Mk6 / Fusion: cluster dead, car won't start, immobiliser light flashing
- Mk6 / Fusion: dials flicker or drop to zero on the move, warning lights sweep
- Mk7 / B-Max / EcoSport: centre display faded, missing segments or blank; backlight out
- Mk7 / B-Max / EcoSport: no-start after a flat battery or jump start
- Ka Mk2: mileage and trip screen fading to nothing — the Fiat 500 fault
- Any of them: intermittent blackouts that recover (the warning stage), or dashes where the mileage should be after a module swap
Repaired on your drive
- Call or message with your postcode and symptoms. Dead dash, flashing immobiliser light, gauges at zero, dashes for mileage — tell us what the car is doing and what it is (Fiesta, Ka, B-Max, EcoSport, Fusion, Ranger — or any other Ford).
- We come to the car. Home, work or wherever it refused to start. The van carries the test gear, components and replacement screens for these clusters.
- Diagnose first, at the car. We confirm the cluster is actually the fault before any repair — if it's the battery, wiring or another module, you get told straight.
- Board-level repair on site. The cluster comes out, the failed stage is rebuilt on the bench in the van, and it goes straight back into your car.
- Started, tested, driven. Gauges, mileage, warning lights and immobiliser all proven working before we leave — same day.
The usual Fiesta call: display fading for months, then a no-start after a jump
The pattern we see most on the Mk7: the centre display has been getting dimmer for a while, the battery goes flat over a cold weekend, and after the jump start the dash is blank and the car won't start. It's the cluster, not the engine — repaired at the car in one visit, keys and mileage untouched.
