The flashing dash that ends in a dead van

The Mk7 Transit (2006–2013) has one of the best-known cluster failures in the Ford range: the dash starts flashing on and off, ABS and other warning lights strobe with it, gauges stop, LEDs die — and then the cluster loses power entirely. Because the immobiliser conversation involves the cluster, a fully dead unit usually means a van that cranks but won't start.

Postal repair is a especially bad fit for a working van: removing the cluster, posting it, waiting days without the tools of your trade. We come to the van wherever it's parked — yard, site, depot or home — and it's back earning the same day.

Transit Mk7 symptoms

  • Dash flashing/flickering on and off (the signature early warning)
  • Warning lights strobing; LEDs not illuminating
  • Gauges not working — speedo, fuel, temperature
  • Total cluster power failure; van won't start
  • Intermittent dead dash that recovers — for now

Also run a Connect? The Transit Connect (2002–2013) has its own known cluster fault — odometer dashes and no-starts — and we repair that on site too.

The visit

  1. Call or message with your postcode and symptoms. Dead dash, flashing immobiliser light, gauges at zero, dashes for mileage — tell us what the car is doing and what it is (Focus, C-Max, Kuga, Transit, Galaxy, S-Max, Mondeo).
  2. We come to the car. Home, work or wherever it refused to start. The van carries the test gear, components and tools for these Visteon clusters.
  3. Diagnose first, at the car. We confirm the cluster is actually the fault before any repair — if it's the battery, wiring or another module, you get told straight.
  4. Board-level repair on site. The cluster comes out, the failed stage is rebuilt on the bench in the van, and it goes straight back into your car.
  5. Started, tested, driven. Gauges, mileage, warning lights and immobiliser all proven working before we leave — same day.
Typical call-out

Transit Mk7 at a Staines site — flashing dash for a fortnight, dead by Monday

The builder had watched the dash flash for two weeks; Monday it was dead and the van wouldn't start with a morning's materials loaded. Repaired at the site entrance before lunch; the crew never unloaded.
