The disappearing display

Focus Mk3, C-Max Mk2 and Kuga Mk2 clusters suffer a well-known display degradation: the centre LCD gradually fades, loses segments or corrupts until it's completely blank. Mileage, trip, menus, and door/warning messages all live on that screen, so the car becomes a guessing game — and an MOT conversation. Left long enough some units develop deeper board faults too.

Mk3-era symptoms

  • Centre display faded — readable only in the dark, or not at all
  • Screen corrupted: missing lines, scrambled characters, ghosting
  • Display completely blank while gauges still work
  • Intermittent display dropout, worse in heat
  • Warning messages unreadable (doors, DPF, service alerts)

Repaired at your address

We rebuild the display stage of your original cluster at the car — no cluster swap, no programming, no lost mileage, no dealer wait. Same-day visit anywhere in our London, Surrey and South East patch.

  1. Call or message with your postcode and symptoms. Dead dash, flashing immobiliser light, gauges at zero, dashes for mileage — tell us what the car is doing and what it is (Focus, C-Max, Kuga, Transit, Galaxy, S-Max, Mondeo).
  2. We come to the car. Home, work or wherever it refused to start. The van carries the test gear, components and tools for these Visteon clusters.
  3. Diagnose first, at the car. We confirm the cluster is actually the fault before any repair — if it's the battery, wiring or another module, you get told straight.
  4. Board-level repair on site. The cluster comes out, the failed stage is rebuilt on the bench in the van, and it goes straight back into your car.
  5. Started, tested, driven. Gauges, mileage, warning lights and immobiliser all proven working before we leave — same day.

Focus Mk3 questions

My Focus Mk3 display has faded to nothing — is the whole cluster failing?
The Mk3-era fault is usually the centre LCD itself degrading — it fades, corrupts or goes blank while gauges keep working. It's repairable at board/display level without replacing the cluster, so mileage and coding stay untouched.
Which other Fords share this unit?
The C-Max Mk2 (2010–2019) and Kuga Mk2 (2013–2019) use the same twin-pod cluster family (part numbers BM5T/F1ET/FV4T-10849). The fault presents identically.
Can it be done at my house?
Yes — same mobile visit as all our cluster work: out, repaired in the van, refitted, tested, same day.
