Two generations, two known faults

The Kuga Mk1 (2008–2012) shares its Visteon cluster with the Focus Mk2.5 facelift — the red-display high-line unit. It fails the classic way: flicker, blackout, gauges to zero, then a no-start with the immobiliser light flashing. The Kuga Mk2 (2013–2019) runs the Mk3-era twin-pod cluster, where the centre display fades, corrupts or goes blank.

Kuga symptoms

  • Mk1: cluster dead, car won't start, immobiliser light flashing
  • Mk1: gauges collapse to zero on the move; U1900/P1260 stored
  • Mk2: centre display faded, ghosting, or completely blank
  • Either: intermittent dash blackouts that recover — the warning stage

Repaired on your drive

  1. Call or message with your postcode and symptoms. Dead dash, flashing immobiliser light, gauges at zero, dashes for mileage — tell us what the car is doing and what it is (Focus, C-Max, Kuga, Transit, Galaxy, S-Max, Mondeo).
  2. We come to the car. Home, work or wherever it refused to start. The van carries the test gear, components and tools for these Visteon clusters.
  3. Diagnose first, at the car. We confirm the cluster is actually the fault before any repair — if it's the battery, wiring or another module, you get told straight.
  4. Board-level repair on site. The cluster comes out, the failed stage is rebuilt on the bench in the van, and it goes straight back into your car.
  5. Started, tested, driven. Gauges, mileage, warning lights and immobiliser all proven working before we leave — same day.
Typical call-out

Kuga Mk1 in Weybridge — garage-kept, 60k miles, dead dash

Low mileage doesn't spare these boards. Repaired at the house in one visit; the owner kept the genuine 60k cluster rather than gambling on a used unit with someone else's history.

Kuga questions

Which Kuga years are affected?
Kuga Mk1 (2008–2012/13) uses the Focus Mk2.5 facelift cluster family (8V4T/8U4T-10849) — dead dashes and no-starts. Kuga Mk2 (2013–2019) uses the Mk3-era twin-pod cluster and suffers the fading/blank centre display.
The dash died on the motorway — is the car safe?
Pull over when safe and don't force it: when the cluster drops off the network the engine can cut without warning. Then call us — we come to wherever the car ends up, which is the whole point of a mobile cluster service.
Will my keys still work after the repair?
Yes. Your original cluster is repaired, not replaced, so key coding and immobiliser pairing stay factory.
