Dead 500 dash display?
Fixed in Dartford.

Blank or fading display on a Fiat 500 or Abarth in Dartford? It's the LCD glass, it's a known fail, and it's an hour's kerbside work with the right screen in stock — which is exactly what we carry.

What the 500 does
when the screen goes.

01 / Blank

No mileage. No fuel. Nothing.

Needles sweep, warning lamps light, and the middle of the dial is black. Total LCD failure — and still nothing wrong with the cluster behind it.

Most common
02 / Data

Needles fine, numbers gone.

Speed and revs still read — they're driven by the working side of the cluster. Fuel level, range, clock, temperature and mileage all lived on the screen you can no longer see.

Why it matters
03 / Fading

Washed out in daylight.

Contrast drains until the odometer is a rumour. Bright days make it invisible, night makes it barely better. This is the bond between ribbon and glass letting go — it only ever gets worse.

Early stage
04 / Backlight

Glow but no digits.

The panel lights up; nothing is written on it. The backlight outlives the glass — proof the fault is the LCD itself, not power or wiring.

Diagnostic clue

New glass.
Nothing else changes.

Dartford sits well inside our mobile patch — we run in via the M25 at the Dartford Crossing and cover every DA1 and DA2 address. The 500 is everywhere in Kent, which means so is this fault: the segment LCD between the dials cooking itself to death over years of dashboard heat.

We don't exchange units and we never post anything. Your cluster stays with your car: we open it, remove the dead glass, fit the replacement screen and rebuild it on the spot. Because the board — and the odometer memory on it — never changes, the car treats the cluster as what it is: the same one it left the factory with.

A dealer can only sell the fix they stock: an entire cluster, ordered in, fitted and aligned — with the calendar doing the real damage, since the wait for parts and a slot is commonly measured in weeks. Replacing just the screen costs a fraction of that and happens the day we park outside your door in Dartford.

Screen work is one lane of what the van carries — cluster repair for all makes, diagnostics and component coding ride along on every Dartford visit.

Two states of one Fiat 500 cluster: dead display above, restored display with original mileage below
Top: the display our customer was living with. Bottom: the same unit an hour later, mileage exactly as stored.

Dartford, door to door.
Postcode by postcode.

Home, office or street parking anywhere in DA1 and DA2 — we arrive via the M25 at the Dartford Crossing with the screen already on the van. Nearby, the same visit runs to:

Fiat 500 screen replacement
Fixed price by reg — agreed before we travel

Reg plus postcode is all a quote needs. The price you're given for the Dartford visit is the price on the invoice — and your 500 is telling the truth again by the weekend, not next month.

Fiat 500 screens in Dartford,
answered.

How long does a Fiat 500 screen swap take at my address?
Around an hour kerbside for the standard segment-display cluster. The unit comes out through the instrument binnacle, the screen is swapped on the bench in the van, and everything is refitted and tested with the ignition live before we leave Dartford.
Does replacing the screen touch my mileage?
No. The odometer reading is held in memory on the cluster's circuit board. The LCD is only the window it shows through — swap the glass and the same stored figure lights up on the new screen.
What will it cost?
Give us the reg and postcode and you get a fixed price before we travel — it doesn't move on the day. It comes in at a fraction of the whole-cluster route, which also usually means parts on order and weeks of waiting rather than a single visit.
Will the car need coding or alignment afterwards?
Nothing. That's the entire point of keeping your original cluster: the immobiliser pairing, proxi configuration and mileage never leave the car. Reconnect, test, drive.
Mine only fails when the cabin warms up — worth doing now?
Yes. Temperature-dependent dropout is the classic early stage, and the direction of travel is one way. The repair is identical now or after it dies completely — booking it early just spares you the weeks of guessing your fuel level.
